Maddie Pappas

STATEMENT

Memories lose their clarity and transform into vague, intangible, feelings over time. My work attempts to take elusive moments and bring them to life with candid and bold imagery. Painting allows me to capture the essence of that moment through color, composition and lighting in a way that other mediums fall short.  Like memories, my paintings range from simple – focusing on the treatment of an object with lucidity as if it were a portrait to the more complex in composition, level of detail and feeling.

BIOGRAPHY

Maddie Pappas was born in southern California in 1988. She developed her skills as an artist & designer in New York City and Boston. Maddie received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010 and continues to live and work in Somerville, Massachusetts.
